The Blizzard of 2006
Connor Skiing 12/25/06
Merry Christmas

What an amazing year and to be able to complete it with an amazing Christmas too! We celebrated Christmas with our usual mish mash of family and friends on Friday. Kiet made egg rolls and mom brought over turkey and ham. What a feast! The boys were all here with Allen but we will have to wait for Kiet's sister Oanh to arrive due the the blizzard. She was supposed to arrive on Wednesday.

Saturday morning everyone came back over for a little gift exchange. We all drew numbers and picked from a pile of presents. We stole presents and laughed alot. I must admit that mom got the best gift. It is a rear end preventer. A little deer that goes on the hitch of your truck and raises it's hands every time you stop. We then gathered up all our stuff and headed to the cabin. We played in the snow, watched a little football and relaxed. Christmas morning we headed to the slopes for our tradition of skiing. Kiet stayed at the cabin and enjoyed some one on one time with his daughter. Connor, Eugene and Jeremy ROCKED!!!! They all picked up skiing and snowboarding like pros! We couldn't get Connor off the mountain. He must of skiied non stop for 5 hours straight.

The night before the Sheppard left we hung out with their kids while the unpacked. Can I say that they had fun in our dress up trunk or what. We also had Connor's best friend Justin Mestinck spending the night.

We always let our kids open one gift before Christmas!

Connor could not resist making snow angels in our backyard first thing in the morning. He and Olivia also sprayed all of the snow with food coloring so it looks like a rainbow. Connor was so happy to get his first MP3 player. He loves music.

I think that Jeremy and Charlie had a good time hanging out with family this year. We miss Phuong but know that she is in not pain where she is now.

Allen, Kiet's brother-in-law, had not been on skis in 20 years but you could not tell. Connor was a mad man on the slopes.

Jeremy snowboarding down the hill. This was only his second time and by the end of the day he was racing down blues. Eugene boraded for a couple hours and then off course took a nap sitting up.

Let it Snow...Let it Snow...Let it Snow

Well we have officially been dumped on and will definitely have a white Christmas. Monday night our guests arrived. The Sheppards with their four children, dog and cat. They were supposed to close on their home on Wednesday. Of Course our storm rolled in on Wednesday and their closing was postponed. Not to worry though Kiet came home early and brought out the ATVs. Every kids in the neighborhood was here to take a ride on their sleds behind the ATVs. Sweet Linda invited all of us over for Pad Thai, Cream Cheese Wontons and Sweet Coconut Sticky rice. We had so much fun visiting and laughing. It snowed all night and we woke up completely snowed in. Not to worry - no school, no work and lots of fun. All the kids were back and we rode up and down the street for hours. I think at one time there was a pyramid of seven boys piled up on top of a small tube. Justin and Connor adorned the top!

Even Olivia had fun riding with her daddy! The Sheppards will close on Friday, we will have a lovely Christmas meal for 20 people on Friday and will head to the cabin Saturday morning. Connor and I will be skiing on Christmas day and thinking of all you.

Andra shoveling the first bit of snow and Jasper loves the snow!

Connor and Justin had a blast together sledding behind the ATVs and even Justins mom, Cathy, got into the action! Her and Lindsey make such a great team.

Baylee, Kip, Lela and Jodi preparing their Pad Thai bowls at the Hills and get a look at all of the snow gear that is piled up at the Hills. We all walked over. 12 kids and 6 adults.

We woke up in the morning to tons of snow! Then by 10am everyone in the neighborhood came over for some fun. Here is Baylee, Lela and Tessa waiting for a ride.

Andra waiting to be pulled and Kiet and Olivia at the wheel!

Here is Brad, Johnathon, BJ, Blake, Justin and Connor. This is how they were pulled for an hour behind the ATV. It was the hysterical watching them pile on, fall off, pile on and be pulled over small jumps. What a great day!

Thanksgiving in Sunny California

We made the big trip to California...
I had promised my Granny that we would come for a visit on Thanksgiving so we began planning for the big trip. Of course getting ready for any trip requires lots and lots of work by my hubby. We always joke that he will be late to his own funeral because of all he has to do before he can leave. All the stress and late nights provoked heartattack like symptons in Kiet and we had to rush him to the hospital Sunday morning at 3am. He woke me out of a dead sleep with chest pains and his right side numb and immobile. After many test and an ambulance ride it was determined that he was stressed and dehydrated. Needless to say I was very very scared.

We were able to finally get away on Tuesday morning at 3am. We drove straight through to Porterville and had a great time with my Grandparents and my mom who drove up from Berkeley. On Friday morning we headed out to the coast to visit with my dad, Jeanie, Laura and her new fiance Sacko. I don't think that Kiet much liked walking on the beach with his crutches but he is such a trooper and a great dad. We had lunch at my favorite restaurant in San Luis Obispo, Big Sky.

What a busy week!

This week almost kicked my ____! It was incredibly busy (like most weeks for those that know me all too well).
Tuesday I had a MOPs steering meeting. I am now in charge of publicity which just means I get to produce a newsletter each month! I love it. Then I met with my new Arbonnoe partner, Kaye. We strategized her new business plan and I am so excited she joined our team.

Wednesday I had to have surgery on my mouth! NO FUN. Too much drilling and scrapping. Wednesday afternoon I met with my PTA partners to plan our meeting agenda for next week. I am really enjoying being involved with PTA. Linda Hill and I are both PTA Presidents. Wednesday night were choir rehersals and I am still not so sure how it is going to be pulled off.
The kids had so much fun with sidewalk chalk because it was 80 degrees. We also have a lovely picture of Connor's garbage black eye. He ran into some dangerous garbage and got himself a shiner.

Our church is doing a very involved Christmas production with dancing, singing and acting. I am betting I trip over someone or something and fall flat on my face. We have an amazing Broadway Choreographer helping us and her engery is infectious. I came home after a 2.5 hour rehersal exhausted.

Thursday Morning I spent the morning cleaning for our special guest and pulling listings for three real estate deals we have in the works. Two referrals from Salt Lake City and one friend from North Carolina that is looking for land in Evergreen. At noon I met up with Jodie Sheppard and clan to look at 5 houses in Littleton. Jodie is the cousin to a good friend of mine and we instantly have an amazing bond. It is so much fun to work with people you enjoy. Once we were done with Jodie I moved on to house hunting with Rachelle (a piolts wife from SLC who is relocationg to Denver). We took Olivia and her daughter Briana to look at some houses in Highlands Ranch. The day ended with dinner at 8pm and me falling on the couch!

Friday I took Rachelle and Briana to the airport and raced home to meet Jon and Sandy Michel so that I could show them some land up in Evergreen. It is so beautiful up there that I actually imagined us living up there for a moment. It was a short moment because I am too social to be far away from people.

Saturday was a wonderful shower for our Kimmy Cooper. Kiet and I are going out to dinner with John, Karen, Abby and Scott which I am totally looking forward to. Ciao for now and Connor has begged me to share this picture with all of you who read this.

A visit from a gentle breeze!

Chela and the kids in Morrison

My extended family from Mexico!

Well my lovely Chela just left and it was such a special visit! She drove in Saturday afternoon with a big smile on her face and lots of love in her heart. The best part of the visit was her presence with my kiddos. They loved her and I am sorry to say she never had a spare moment to herself because they were joined at her hip. We went to dinner at the Hills and came home and had a nice bit of conversation and life sharing. Sunday morning we took Chela to our favorite spot in Morrison (no not TNT for those of you who live here) The Blue Cow Cafe! The kids and Chela colored and talked as we waited for our pancakes the size of small tires and lots and lots of coffee. We then strolled along the rustling stream in Morrison and captured some photos.

Connor had a soccer game and Connor scored two of the four goals. We all took a wonderful nap and then headed up to Red Rocks for a two hour hike. Kiet made some yummy Pad Thai which completed a great day!

Connor man at his Uncle Scotty's 30th Surprise Party

Olivia's 4th Birthday Party - can you guess the theme?

Scott, Abby, and Eugene at our 2nd Annual Neighborhood Party
November 3

The weekend is here!!! Yippee - the kids are still sleeping and I think I will let them sleep in. Their daddy kept them out very very late last night. I am listening to an interview of my daddy on a local Grover Beach radio station. I am so proud of him, he is running for City Council in his town and I love his passion for politics. We have a busy weekend in store for us and like last weekends big football game we will be on the move the whole time. I have a choreography weekend tonight and all day tomorrow. Our church is having a huge Christmas pagent and I will have to sing and dance at the same time. We will hope and pray that I don't make a fool out of myself and fall on my face in front of hundreds. My cousing Chela is coming on Sunday and I am so excited. Here are some pictures of Connor's first real football game as well as some other random family pictures.
